Vinyl is useful for any type of wrap, sometimes it is difficult to wrap objects.Sometimes wrapping an object is more cost effective than painting it, especially when you’re working with a complicated design. It’s easier to correct a shape before printing than it is to repaint a wall. Vinyl wrapping provides endless creative and branding opportunities. But it’s sometimes hard to wrap certain items because of the complexity of the elements. Here are three important things Signs A La Carte considers for each vinyl project. The Shape Even though vinyl can handle deformity, sometimes when there’s too much distortion, the adhesive behind the vinyl cracks. Curved shapes and spheres are almost impossible to wrap. The Signs A La Carte team has to use cast vinyl for these shapes. Wrapping a bike? Consider painting it instead. With all of the curves on the bike’s frame, a vinyl wrap will take significantly longer to complete. The Surface Our customers frequently ask if we can refurbish their signs. Our response: “We’ll see what we can do!” Vinyl must stick perfectly on the surface of the sign to look good and withstand the elements. We ask our customers to bring us their sign or send us a photo so we know exactly what we’re working with. When Signs A La Carte does mural wraps, we bring our adhesion test kit to test the wall and determine which vinyl to use. Vinyl doesn’t work well on wood if the surface is rough and untreated. This also applies to rusted metal. The Temperature Vinyl is fabricated to be durable and endure deformation. Temperature can negatively impact adhesion to a surface and shorten the lifespan of the vinyl. Rapidly changing temperatures or temperatures that are extremely hot or cold are not good for vinyl—the finish will peel and crack. We don’t recommend installing outdoor wraps in below-freezing temperatures because the vinyl adhesive won’t stick. We Can Wrap Anything with Patience No matter what you want to wrap, Signs A La Carte can do it. However, preparing the area and applying the vinyl might take longer than usual. Examples of some of the less-common objects we’ve wrapped include:
Vinyl wraps provide an economical way to decorate surfaces, and they’re easily removable. From walls and posters to storefront signs, Signs A La Carte can wrap anything with a smooth surface. We can also protect your vehicle against extreme elements and road debris while making your brand visible to potential customers.
