We recently worked with Heather Griesser LaPierre, to create custom signage for her association, Kids Against Hunger (KAH). While we were working with Heather, she gave us more information on her association and how it works. We used Aluminum Composite Material because it offers good dimensional stability and a metallic look. It is also half the weight of aluminum so it can be mounted to the wall easier.  Aluminum composite material is a three-layer sandwich panel consisting of two pre-painted aluminum sheets bonded to a polyethylene core. ACM panels can be used for the interior or exterior of your business. These are eye-catching and attractive. For KAH, we printed and laminated vinyl that we applied on one ACM panel. It is an indoor sign that can be used as a backer for pictures with their sponsors logos. We asked Heather a few questions to better understand the association and how we can help. What is the principal goal of your association?“To feed children, families and individuals struggling with food insecurity both locally and around the world. We do this by packing and distributing highly nutritious meals that include all nine of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition so that our meals can move someone from starving to thriving.” When did Kids Against Hunger start?“I started KAH in August 2015. It started from the basement of my home and has grown into a 5,000 square foot warehouse. We have packed over 9.5 Million meals since 2015 all with the help of 1,000's of volunteers. We have a large number of volunteers. Our volunteer database which we only started putting together 2 years ago has over 3,000 names. We reach them through email and social media.” How do you raise money for the association and how can we help?“We are constantly fundraising as each of our meals are $.30 a piece. We are always looking for individuals and corporations to join us as Hunger Hero's. Our Hunger Hero's sign up for monthly giving. $65 a month fills a box with 216 meals or for $1 a day you can feed an individual. We have corporate sponsor opportunities as well. Some of our volunteers have created fundraisers for us and some companies sponsor us by giving back with each sale. There are so many ways you can get involved and help support our mission and we are always happy to speak with anyone that wants to help us fight hunger.” Heather Griesser LaPierre is a full time Realtor and started this company 7 years ago. They started donating a percentage of their commissions of each sale to KAH. They hosted packing events for clients, friends, and the community. The organization has grown so much throughout the years. This year, Heather was named a 2022 Good Neighbor through the National Association of Realtors. With over 1.6 million members she was nominated for the work she does with KAH and was one of the five winners this year. There is only one other winner in the state of PA and she won back in 2008. This is a National Award and came with a 10,000 grant for our organization. Adding custom signage to your company or business will increase the visibility of your brand to potential customers or clients. Vinyl is one of the most common materials used for creating custom signage. Vinyl can be cut into all shapes and sizes, printed on, laminated, or it can even be used to wrap vehicles. The material has an adhesive back that can be applied to a sign, wall, or window. Vinyl can come in a few different variations and it can be cost effective.  The categories of vinyl include: cast or calendered which can be printed or pigmented. The cast and calendered vinyl go through different manufacturing processes. Printed vinyl will come out completely white and has the color printed on it. Pigmented vinyl will come our with the color baked into it and will be cut into shapes to create the preferred graphic of the clients choosing. Now, let's go more in depth of what each of these types of vinyl include. Cast VinylThis type of vinyl is typically used for vehicle wrap. Cast vinyl is made by pouring a liquid form into a mold. It will then slowly cool, and be reheated to cure. By following this process, it creates a more durable, flexible, and expensive vinyl. These last twice as long as a calendered vinyl. Cast vinyl has the ability to stretch which makes it perfect for wrapping vehicles. Calendered VinylThis type of vinyl is less durable, cheaper, and less flexible. Calendered vinyl is made by taking a large amount of vinyl and pressing it with rollers into a flat square sheet. Because it is stretched into final form it is considered stiff and sensitive to wear. Cut VinylThis type of vinyl is almost always pigmented. Cut Vinyl is used to make graphics of one or more colors. This will go into the plotting machine that will cut the vinyl with a small blade, keeping the vinyl intact. Once the vinyl is cut, you then are able to peel the excess vinyl to reveal the finished image. Cut vinyl can be calendered or cast. Once it is cut, it will then be able to be weeded and taped.
