Installing Channel Letters for the New Agway Storefront Sign, by Signs A La Carte- West Chester , PA-
Signs A La Carte provides and installs signs for a short and/or permanent period.
One day we received a message from a local business owner. His business was moving, and he needed a banner to say where the business was moving and one for the new shopping center and business location.
Signs A La Carte worked with Cory Mattia, owner of the West Chester Agway store, built in 1976 primarily as a farm and feed store. Agway recently moved from its Matlack Street location to the Commons of Thornbury near the Route 926/202 intersection. For his smallest facility, Mr. Mattia decided to focus on specific categories of products rather than being too diversified.
Agway was also renamed Agway Wild Birding Center. Mr. Mattia wanted customers to know the store was still open, but with a different name and location, so he decided to keep the brand and logo.
Installing channel letters on a building requires a permit from the township. Fortunately, everything went well with the permit, and Signs A La Carte created two large format banners: one for the pylon where the store was closing, and another where the store was opening.
We also added the business name to the monument sign at both entrances of the shopping center. In this shopping center, we replace the business name on the monument sign when a tenant leaves, using a plain green plaque until there’s a new tenant.
Raceway vs. Flush Mounted Signs
The difference between the two (raceway and flush) is the method of installation.
A raceway is a rectangular sign mounting structure that holds all wiring and electrical components for the letters. It generally requires three or four drill holes to mount this setup.
Flush mount setup requires between three and five holes in the facade for each letter. Our installers fish the wires through the holes before securing the individual elements.
Building owners usually prefer the raceway option because it does the least amount of damage to the facade.
A storefront sign can also be a lighted box, an unlit sign with dimensional letters, or a custom-made face with a business’s colors, design, and shape. Check out our website page to see a few examples of the storefront sign we’ve created.

Creating Custom Window and Wall Decals for Tilted Axes of West Chester by Signs A La Carte -West Chester, PA-
Signs A La Carte printed and installed wall and windows graphics at Tilted Axes in West Chester.
Signs A La Carte designed all the signs for our neighboring business, Tilted Axes of West Chester, an axe-throwing and BYOB food and drink venue. Patrons throw axes in a safe line for two hours while enjoying time with friends and getting a great workout. Each group has a coach who explains the rules and teaches you how to throw the axes. You can also play darts and tic-tac-toe, listen to music, and buy pizzas from a food truck.
Owners Jason and Jake started from scratch with an empty building. With the help of friends and family, they built everything, from the tables to the soundproofing walls. When Jason came to Signs A La Carte in December, he immediately decided to work on his signs project with us. The venue was opening in two weeks, and he needed to be ready with signs advertising the new business.
We started out doing one interior sign and window graphics. The logo was printed on vinyl, laminated, and applied to the wall of the entrance.
Behind the Tilted Axes customer service desk, the white wall was covered by a wall graphic with the logo. After working on his reception area, Jason noticed that his entertainment center needed some adjustments. Signs A La Carte created stickers for the pool table area that said, ‘No drinks and food on the pool table.
The last big job was the storefront sign. At this point, Jason decided to create a franchise, which meant he needed to rethink his logo and add more colors. The outdoor sign was printed on vinyl applied on acrylic with an aluminum frame. His little touch adding black pieces in the corners looks even better.
Then Jason came to us with a wonderful idea for decorating the bathroom doors. Like with the wall, we used overlaminate printed vinyl. To avoid being visible from outside, the plain doors became a nice plaid.
If you get the chance, go throw axes and check out the beautiful signs. And if you like the work we did and want to invest in your signage, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll work with you to grow your business!
Learn more about how Signs A La Carte can use wall and window graphics to promote your business and make it more inviting to potential customers.
Did you know your walls and windows are excellent places to customize your business? As a business owner, you have a large area where you can display information about your company or simply personalize it with an eye-catching graphic. You could also cover your wall entirely or partially with pre-cut vinyl.
Prefer to only partially cover your wall? We can apply vinyl-cut letters, numbers, or shapes. Your monochrome or multi-color design is cut with the plotter. Not only will your custom vinyl decorate your space, but it will also promote your business anywhere inside your building.
A new product on the market gives you another option for covering your walls: wallpaper. It’s more ecological than vinyl, and to stick it on the wall, we just wet the back surface with water. Since it’s printed on a large printer, your wall will be covered with four-foot wide bands of paper. Plus, the product can be stretched—we aren’t afraid to rip it when we apply it!
If your business has windows, you can cover them with custom vinyl graphics. Cut lettering is the most frequently used decal. It can display your store hours, product lines, and of course, your business name.
You might also have conference rooms surrounded by windows. Maybe you want privacy, but you also want natural light to pass through. Signs A La Carte has exactly what you need. You can’t see through etched vinyl, but photons can still cross the translucent surface. Best of all, it looks great!
On a car, monochrome cut lettering is good for promoting your business economically, and it’s also a long-term investment. Include your name, phone number, logo, and website, and when drivers see your car on the road, they’ll think, “Hey, I need to give this place a call!”

Signs A La Carte explains and answers commonly asked questions about Signs: price, wrap, type of signs...
As a full-service, custom sign company located in West Chester-PA-, Signs A La Carte answers many questions about window graphics, vehicle wraps, outdoor and indoor signs, and other types of signs. We’ve included a few of our most commonly asked questions below to give you a look into our process and what makes us different from other sign companies.
Why do you ask so many questions about my sign before we talk about price?
It isn’t easy to provide a price right away because all of our signs are custom. The price of an interior or exterior sign varies depending on several criteria:
Each of these parameters must be considered so we can provide an accurate quote.
How much do you really need to know about my vehicle before you wrap it?
Before processing your vehicle wrap, Signs A La Carte asks important questions about the type of vehicle you want to wrap (car, truck, trailer, plane, etc.). We can give you a quick estimate because we have thousands of templates with standard characteristics. However, we need to know the make, model, year, color, options, add-on equipment, and style of your vehicle first.
To optimize your message and increase brand awareness, Signs A La Carte discusses your goals to deliver the best solution that promotes your brand and generates business. We ask about your logo, website, tagline, offerings, phone number, photos, and more.
With this information, our designers will guide you through the design process, keeping your budget and your vehicle’s space limitations in mind. We can discuss various options including the vinyl color and finishes and the types of wrap that fit your budget.
These are a few types of wrap we offer:
Why is Signs A La Carte different from other companies?
Most of the time, we apply printed vinyl on a sign or vehicle. This is why our vinyl comes in the form of a quality adhesive that’s resistant to external elements like sun, rain, and wind. You have many color and finish options: matte, semi-gloss, gloss, brushed steel, carbon fiber, matte metallic, chrome, and even leather-like finishes.
Finally, our solvent-free printing process combines primary colors for a better-quality image. It allows us to reproduce images in solid color, high-resolution photographs, printing on various types of vinyl (transparent, block out) that we can apply on walls, windows, vehicles, acrylic, and PVC. Our prints come with a layer of film coating adapted to the material, if necessary, to guarantee incredible durability.
Do you have other questions we didn’t cover here? Signs A La Carte is a visual company that can work with you to create your custom sign. Give us a call and we’d be happy to answer your questions or get a project started for you!

Are you the owner of a new commercial property like a restaurant, a medical office, a retail location, a shopping center or a real estate agency? Are you located near West Chester, PA?
If you answered yes, you need some outdoor signage. But what kind of sign do you need?
We, at Signs A La Carte, have a variety of materials to help you find the perfect sign for your brand.
In this post, you will find some examples of storefront signs that you probably see everyday. But which is right for you? Below you’ll see examples of signs that are either attached to the wall or perpendicular at the front facade like a rider sign.
The most exciting question you have to ask yourself is: Do you want your sign illuminated?
The benefit of an illuminated sign is that at night, customers will still be able to notice you in the dark and it can help them to remember your location during the day. We work with an electrician to install your illuminated sign -- and you can choose whether you want to use LED or neon lights.
Another option for an illuminated sign is having us create an acrylic sign in a case. Inside that case we would add lights and the entire sign would glow in the dark like this company, Unique Hearing Aid Solutions, chose.
Maybe you prefer illuminated letters! In this case, you need channel letters, which are generally made of acrylic faces that allow light to be projected through the letters in a multitude of colors. We do it all!
Not looking for an illuminated storefront sign? No problem. We also make PVC, wood, aluminum or stainless-steel panels.
To embellished them, we use different methods like printing, engraving, laser cutting, and painting. We also use colorful vinyl or can add material like raised metal, acrylic, backlit or plastic colorful letters. Signs A La Carte can customize your durable exterior signage with your unique specifications. We can even help with a colorful underlay or installing a spotlight underneath to keep your sign noticeable in the dark.
We also install letters directly on your storefront like Gus & Ruby Letterpress. The material we use are very durable and easy to install. The letters are cut and shaped into any font style you choose!
Here in West Chester, the most affordable storefront used is a called a “sign rider”. A sign rider is usually a smaller sign that accompanies a larger sign or graphic (similar to what you see in a real estate frames). Sign riders are usually placed either below or above (or both) the larger graphic in the frame. Additionally they are used on posts and even hang from iron or wooden hangers. The sign is attached perpendicular to your business. We attach your vinyl to wood or an aluminite sheet, with the information you need
Did you know that your location is on a specific zoning map? That means that you’re not exactly able to do whatever you want. You have to follow the directives from your city or township. Illuminated signs require a permit, not just the preexisting sign rider. You can simply replace sign riders with new information if you keep it the same size. But to make it bigger or change any other specifications to your outdoor signage, you need to check with your city or town -- and definitely your landlord.
Signs A La Carte can produce any sign you can dream up! Just come with your ideas (and permits lol) and we will bring your dreams to life.
Signs A La Carte did an amazing job by wrapping a kid's helmet.
One day, we got a message coming from our Signs A La Carte's Facebook page. A mom asked us if it was possible to wrap her son’s helmet.
The little guy needs to wear it 23 hours a day. It’s a treatment to help correct baby’ skull shape when
doctors detect cranial orthosis with infants. Helmets must be worn when the skull is actively growing.
We decided to help her even if it was our first time to wrap a helmet. We really like to have new challenges.
She gave us some ideas: she would like a blue color gradient, stars and a paraph saying:
MaDe OF StaRduSt aNd WiShES AnD MaGiCal thinGS.
Our designer did something amazing.
We thought it could be installed easily but in reality, it was not the same story…. We are manufacturing flat signs or 3D signs with superimposed flat layers. We have to adapt the vinyl to the round shape.
Hopefully, we used a very good vinyl. If this one is damaged, it will always come back to its neat and clean texture and it will perfectly fit to any shape it will cover.
The mom decided to have a French touch on it, we are very warmed by her thought.
She asked us to write “Le petit prince” on the front of the helmet.
Signs A La Carte was proud to help this wonderful mom. It meant a lot for her and her family.
Here is her message: ''Thank you again so much for all of the time and love you put into this!''
She was right, we spent time and love, and it made our day as well!!!!
We wish her little cute guy a quick recovery.
