Signs A La Carte provides and installs signs for a short and/or permanent period.![]() One day we received a message from a local business owner. His business was moving, and he needed a banner to say where the business was moving and one for the new shopping center and business location. Signs A La Carte worked with Cory Mattia, owner of the West Chester Agway store, built in 1976 primarily as a farm and feed store. Agway recently moved from its Matlack Street location to the Commons of Thornbury near the Route 926/202 intersection. For his smallest facility, Mr. Mattia decided to focus on specific categories of products rather than being too diversified. Agway was also renamed Agway Wild Birding Center. Mr. Mattia wanted customers to know the store was still open, but with a different name and location, so he decided to keep the brand and logo. The Process Installing channel letters on a building requires a permit from the township. Fortunately, everything went well with the permit, and Signs A La Carte created two large format banners: one for the pylon where the store was closing, and another where the store was opening. ![]() We also added the business name to the monument sign at both entrances of the shopping center. In this shopping center, we replace the business name on the monument sign when a tenant leaves, using a plain green plaque until there’s a new tenant.
Raceway vs. Flush Mounted Signs The difference between the two (raceway and flush) is the method of installation. A raceway is a rectangular sign mounting structure that holds all wiring and electrical components for the letters. It generally requires three or four drill holes to mount this setup. Flush mount setup requires between three and five holes in the facade for each letter. Our installers fish the wires through the holes before securing the individual elements. Building owners usually prefer the raceway option because it does the least amount of damage to the facade. A storefront sign can also be a lighted box, an unlit sign with dimensional letters, or a custom-made face with a business’s colors, design, and shape. Check out our website page to see a few examples of the storefront sign we’ve created. Moving Your Business to a New Location?

Take a look at the types of indoor office signage we can create for your business! Signs A La Carte applied Reflective vinyl on vehicle and renew some signs for State Farm.Signs A La Carte recently worked on a fun project for Chris Madonna, a State Farm agent in West Chester, PA. After purchasing a Smart car, Chris wanted to get the car wrapped for his business. He knew a vinyl vehicle wrap is a cost-effective tool for generating brand awareness, sales, and business growth. We proposed the idea of using reflective vinyl instead of regular vinyl. Though the price per square foot for 3M™ Scotchlite™ Removable Reflective Graphic Films was higher, the more vibrant, 24/7 exposure with reflective vinyl was a critical advantage. Reflective film provides better slideability, air release, and removability for easier, faster, bubble-free installations and removal. With heat removal, reflective vinyl leaves little or no adhesive residue. Signs A La Carte gave Chris a mock-up of what his car would look like with a wrap, and he loved how it brought the graphic to life. To protect the vinyl, we applied a clear laminate to shield it from fading, scratches, and road debris. Chris Madonna really loves the new design of his car. He is so happy that his business name is visible day and night. When Chris dropped off his car, he discovered we can do anything with vinyl, like building signs, directory signs, any kinf of signs to promote your brand indoor and outdoor. In addition to the vehicle wrap, Chris also needed to update his business hours and change the post panel in front of his office. We removed the old signs and replaced them with new signs. ![]() As you can see here, we replaced the vinyl on the business hours sign and updated it with Chris’s new hours. ![]() To manufacture the post sign, we cut a medium density overlay (MDO) panel. This is a type of material produced with a high-quality, thermosetting resin-impregnated fiber surface bonded to one or both sides under heat and pressure. The sign’s shape has a half-oval at the top, which can hold one-third of the logo. Signs A La Carte applied a red and white printed vinyl cover with a laminate and then installed it on the post. Testimonial from Chris Madonna: Thanks guys, as always great work, and done quickly. Call them when you need a new or better look. Not only can vinyl be used on cars, but it can also be used for signs and building graphics to give brands and promotions greater visibility. The material can easily be printed on a large, eco-friendly printer. Unlike paint, which requires greater patience to apply because of the level of detail, vinyl lasts longer and is easier to apply.
Chris Madonna is a great Signs A La Carte customer who educates his clients about all types of insurance, including auto insurance, motorcycle insurance, home insurance, renters insurance, life insurance, business insurance, and more. Signs A La Carte printed and installed wall and windows graphics at Tilted Axes in West Chester.Signs A La Carte designed all the signs for our neighboring business, Tilted Axes of West Chester, an axe-throwing and BYOB food and drink venue. Patrons throw axes in a safe line for two hours while enjoying time with friends and getting a great workout. Each group has a coach who explains the rules and teaches you how to throw the axes. You can also play darts and tic-tac-toe, listen to music, and buy pizzas from a food truck. Owners Jason and Jake started from scratch with an empty building. With the help of friends and family, they built everything, from the tables to the soundproofing walls. When Jason came to Signs A La Carte in December, he immediately decided to work on his signs project with us. The venue was opening in two weeks, and he needed to be ready with signs advertising the new business. ![]() We started out doing one interior sign and window graphics. The logo was printed on vinyl, laminated, and applied to the wall of the entrance.
Behind the Tilted Axes customer service desk, the white wall was covered by a wall graphic with the logo. After working on his reception area, Jason noticed that his entertainment center needed some adjustments. Signs A La Carte created stickers for the pool table area that said, ‘No drinks and food on the pool table. The last big job was the storefront sign. At this point, Jason decided to create a franchise, which meant he needed to rethink his logo and add more colors. The outdoor sign was printed on vinyl applied on acrylic with an aluminum frame. His little touch adding black pieces in the corners looks even better. Then Jason came to us with a wonderful idea for decorating the bathroom doors. Like with the wall, we used overlaminate printed vinyl. To avoid being visible from outside, the plain doors became a nice plaid. If you get the chance, go throw axes and check out the beautiful signs. And if you like the work we did and want to invest in your signage, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll work with you to grow your business!
Exterior signages for Kids' Clubhouse of the Mainline by Signs A La Carte- West Chester, PA-7/29/2019 Signs A La Carte installed an Awning and Window Graphics for Kids' Clubhouse of the Mainline. When Angela Bruno moved to Pennsylvania from California, she discovered that a drop-off daycare didn’t exist in the area. She set out to start her own daycare, and once she found a facility, she contacted Signs A La Carte to create her signage. But first she needed to get her sign installation approved with the building landlord and the township—when you open a business, it’s important to follow the rules in the area. Angela wanted to have window graphics and a lighted awning installed over the door. This would allow parents to stay sheltered from the elements when their children leave the daycare. The light is also important, especially during the winter months when it gets dark early, so parents and their children can feel safe. Signs A La Carte helped Angela get approvals from the township. To do this, we needed to have everything ready to submit for the project, including measurements, colors, and the exact location of the signage. After the township issued their approval and Angela signed off on the details of her custom signs, we started production. The biggest component was the awning. Creating an Awning On the awning fabric, we applied white-cut lettering that resists harsh weather. Angela wanted the awning to protect parents from the rain while they’re waiting to pick up their kids. Since Angela couldn’t put her business name on the building, she decided to place it on the awning instead. This helped her visually market her daycare—white lettering on dark green fabric is great for grabbing attention. The system of aluminum frames also provides a clean look and allows the fabric to be tightly stretched across the frame.
Adding a Custom Floor Mat Finally, Angela asked Signs A La Carte to create a floor mat with her logo. The mat matched both the interior and exterior signage, as well as the vinyl on the door. For 7 Miles Free Ride, we engineered, designed and manufactured a rooftop with LED Acrylic panel sides lighting at night as well as the front oval attached to the car. Duie Pyle, the Northeast's premier transportation and logistics provider in order to renovate all their inside signs at the headquarter located in West Chester. You know those big white and orange trucks you see on the road? The company is called A. Duie Pyle. They’re the Northeast’s premier transportation and logistics provider. Project Highlights The company’s business headquarters in West Chester asked Signs A La Carte to renovate their indoor signage. We printed and manufactured their graphic designs, and we installed new signs inside the building, including in the reception hall and hallway.
To illustrate A. Duie Pyle’s success, the company decided to tell a story on a wall. Signs A La Carte applied the company’s historic timeline in the hallway. The wall is covered by printed vinyl with graphics that represent important company dates and photos, from the start of the company to present-day operations. This hallway mural is both an art piece and a historic archive. Adding a Branded Element of Privacy The company had a large conference room that needed privacy film and Signs A La Carte used etched vinyl. On translucent vinyl, the company logo was trimmed to brand the space while also giving meeting attendees privacy when discussing projects. Even though the glass window was covered by vinyl, the room is still illuminated, and light can pass through the glass and vinyl. In the meeting room, you’ll find a sign that represents the company’s five integrated supply chain solutions in orange and black, their official colors. The sign is made with printing vinyl applied on translucent acrylic and attached by standoffs on an aluminum brushed surface. The Finished Product Once the project was completed, A. Duie Pyle’s team and their customers had a better understanding of the company’s history and how it evolved from the early 20s to today. Since installing the signs, we’ve heard great things—the company loved the timeline and illuminated LED frame. It’s certainly a treatment you don’t see everywhere! Thank you to A. Duie Pyle for working with us on this exciting project. Are you interested in the work we did for A. Duie Pyle? Need an interior sign? Explanation of The Process of Creating a Custom Monument Sign by Signs A La Carte- West Chester -PA-Have you seen the beautiful shopping center monument sign in Limerick, PA? Signs A La Carte was the proud manufacturer and installer. ![]() We handled every step in the process to draw attention to the new shopping center coming soon. From pieces of wood and electrical wire, we designed and mounted the illuminated monument. Ever wonder how a monument sign is made? Below we’ve included the steps in the sign-making process, including design, fabrication and assembly, and installation.
Your monument sign will include both the actual signage and the masonry that helps support the sign’s base. You have options for each component. Business owners will often match their sign to the architecture of their building. Stone, aluminum, wood, acrylic, and other metals are the materials we most frequently use. Before you get too far in the design process, it’s a good idea to check with your municipality to find out what your city code allows. If you are creating your first monument sign, you’ll be required to secure a permit for your sign. Fabrication and Assembly At Signs A La Carte, we have the in-house capabilities to execute and supervise each step in the fabrication and assembly process. This helps ensure that the sign we install at your business matches the specifications we agreed upon during the design phase. Fabrication begins once you’ve approved the design and are ready to move forward. Mounting the Sign Assuming all permits have been secured, it’s time to install your sign! Monument signs should be placed perpendicularly to the street. To help ensure your sign is easy to read, make sure you take shadows and sunlight into consideration when placing your sign. Signs A La Carte will guide you through the process. We have all of the tools and equipment needed to securely install your sign. After the footer or foundation of the monument sign are prepared to receive the sign, we secure the metal frame of the sign to the footer. The last step is to slide the acrylic faces with names or phone numbers at their place it should be. And voila! Your sign is installed and ready to attract visitors to your business.
Why Install or Refresh a Monument Sign? Retailers spend a lot of money to be in high-traffic shopping malls. However, old, unattractive monument faces—or worse, no monument sign at all—are even more costly. Signs A La Carte fabricates and installs shopping mall signs to increase traffic and sales. Many smart retailers are improving their signage for the new year! If you are looking for a new signage solution, Signs A La Carte can help you enhance your ideas or start from scratch. Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions about creating your monument sign or any kind of signs you may need. |
