The walls of these letters are typically 4-5 inches deep and form a channel for the lights to be mounted in. back lit channel letters are the opposite. The letters are individually mounted to the wall to hold it off the wall so you get a light dispersion. Either of these options are a great choice to make a lasting impression for yourself. 
 
There are a few ways channel letters can be mounted to the wall. They can be mounted on a raceway which is an aluminum box behind the letters or individually to the wall. If the letters are being individually mounted to the wall we need to allow for some space to run the wires behind the wall and connect them together.
